Egra blast: Death toll reaches 10, IC Mausam Chakraborty transferred to Hooghly Rural District Police

With the death of illegal firecracker factory owner Bhanu Bagh in the Egra blast case, the death toll rose to 10. Along with this, the district police has transferred Mausam Chakraborty, IC (Inspector in Charge) of Egra police station. Hooghly's Swapan Goswami will be the new IC of Egra police station. IC Mausam Chakraborty of Egra police station was fiercely opposed by the local people at the blast site in Egra. The local people even thrashed him.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself had condemned the IC. This time he was transferred. Swapan Goswami has held the post of OC in many police stations of East Medinipur district for a long time. Swapan Goswami has been the OC of Egra police station for a long time.He was promoted to IC while he was the OC of East Medinipur District Mahishadal. However, there was no response from the district police regarding this transfer. Swapan Goswami has been given the responsibility in his place.

A notification was issued from Bhabani Bhawan on Friday. It has been told that IC Mausam of Egra police station has been transferred to Hooghly Rural Cybercrime police station. On the other hand, IC Swapan of Hooghly rural police station is being sent to Egra police station.

After the Egra blast in the illegal firecracker factory in Egra, East Midnapore, the administration has started strict monitoring. Police has started action against such illegal firecracker factories in different parts of the state. At the same time, the IC of Agra police station has been transferred. For so long, Mausam Chakraborty was handling the responsibility of IC of Agra police station. Now he is being transferred to the post of Inspector of Hooghly Rural Police District. Simultaneously Swapan Goswami has been given the responsibility of the new IC of Egra police station.

Coincidentally, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had expressed displeasure over the role of the IC of the local police station after the explosion in the illegal firecracker factory in Agra. The Chief Minister had said that day that the owner of the firecracker factory had been arrested once before. But later he got bail again.

In that case, the Chief Minister raised the question that even after getting bail, how can that person do the same thing again? He said, "The IC should ask why the person is doing the same thing again after getting bail."
